Coal is the most plentiful, economical and commonly used fossil fuel in the world however it is not one of the cleanest. When organizations discuss "clean coal", they generally mean a cleaner way of burning the coal so that during combustion there will be fewer emissions of all forms - solid, liquid and gaseous.
